Hellblazer

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Hellblazer is a comic book published under the Vertigo label, which is a line of adult horror comic books published by DC Comics. It has the distinction of being the longest running Vertigo comic book, having been published continuously since January, 1988. The book has been so successful, both critically and financially, that it has inspired many spin-off specials, mini-series, and the live action movie Constantine in 2005.

It stars the British con man, magician, and working class occult detective John Constantine, whose morally questionably behavior and cynical nature makes for a very sarcastic, complex, charming, and unlikely hero. John uses his knowlege of the occult world and his gift at misdirection and deception to protect the common man from the forces of heaven and hell, though often achieving victory at a stiff price. That price is often paid by Constantine's allies and friends, saddling our hero with feelings of intense guilt and feeding his cynicism and negative life outlook.
