Harry Potter is the central character in a series of books by British author J. K. Rowling. Six of seven planned books featuring the young wizard have been published to date. The first five novels have been made into movies. The books have become a cultural phenomenon selling more than 300 million copies worldwide. They have been translated into more than 60 languages.
