Harcesis

In the science fiction television show Stargate SG-1, a Harcesis is a Human child born of the hosts of two Goa'uld while the hosts are still possessed. The Harcesis born thus would possess all the knowledge of the Goa'uld, and is generally considered an abomination for the same reason. It is also generally forbidden to create such a child.

History

Apophis broke this taboo when he impregnated Daniel Jackson's wife Sha're, the host of the goa'uld Amonet. During Sha're's pregnancy, Amonet was forced to return control of her body to Sha're to prevent the child from dying. Sha're was able to return to Abydos in time to come across Daniel who'd also returned to Abydos after his one year absence. When Daniel attempts to take her through the Stargate to Earth, a ship arrives, and Amonet believing Apophis had come for her took over Sha're's body briefly. As a result, Sha're goes into labor. Daniel helps his wife deliver a baby boy but Amonet returns and Sha're is lost again. Amonet hides the child's existence from Apophis, telling him Heru'ur, who had recently arrived and engaged in battle with SG-1, had taken him.

In the episode "Forever in a Day", Amonet returns to Abydos for the Harcesis child and sends him into hiding with one of her maids on the planet Kheb. When Amonet tries to kill Daniel using the hand device, Teal'c kills her. Daniel experiences a dream sequence and he's convinced Sha're communicated with him telling him to find and protect her son.

In "Maternal Instinct" Daniel and SG-1 visit the planet Kheb, to find the Harcesis child. He learns that the boy is being protected by the powerful ascended being called Oma Desala and leaves him in her care. The Harcesis child, known as Shifu, appeared once again in the episode "Absolute Power". Oma Desala, to protect the child, taught him to bury the evil goa'uld memories but Daniel believes that knowledge could help Earth defend itself against the goa'uld. Shifu gives Daniel a vision that teaches him that no good can come from such evil knowledge.
