Hank Landry <span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>
General Hank Landry is a fictional character on the TV Series Stargate SG-1 played by Beau Bridges. He is an old friend of General Jack O'Neill and is the new head of Stargate Command. He was the personal choice of Jack O'Neill and was appointed by President Henry Hayes. Like his predecessor O'Neill, he has an excellent sense of humor. He often quotes famous American generals such as Patton, Washington, and MacArthur, and less often, Doctor Phil. Landry's main difficulty in adjusting to his new job appears to be the efficiency of his staff who seem to know what he needs before he asks. Landry has a daughter, Dr. Carolyn Lam, who is the new Chief Medical Officer of the SGC. Their relationship is difficult and there has been the implication that his devotion to his job put a strain on his relationship with his family. He was a pilot during the Vietnam War and was shot down over Laos. He spent eight days in the jungle and was hunted by the North Vietnamese army. Like his predecessors, Landry rarely goes off world. In the episode "Counterstrike" however, he visited Dakara in an attempt to convince the leader of the Jaffa nation to end their use of the Ancient Weapon at Dakara in their attempt to defeat the Ori. His attempts were unsuccessful and he escaped Dakara’s destruction by Adria with Bra'tac at the last minute. Landry has a relaxed leadership style and has made attempts to reach out to his staff, SG-1 in particular. With the threat of the Ori looming and becoming a constant worry, he invited Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell to spend time relaxing at O’Neill's cabin. They soon faced a deadly threat but were ultimately able to spend time together with the rest of the team and take their minds off the enormous weight resting on all their shoulders.
