Hancock is a 2008 drama directed by Peter Berg. Will Smith stars as much disliked superhero whose hard-living has won him public disdain. He begins a relationship with the wife (Charlize Theron) of his publicist (Jason Bateman) who is doing his best to repair his image.

Despite mainly negative reviews from critics, Hancock extended Smiths domination of the Independence Day weekend box office. The film earned $66 million dollars on opening and over the long weekend broke the $100 million dollar mark.
