Hana Gitelman is a fictional character on the NBC series, Heroes played by Stana Katic . Hana's grandmother was a resistance fighter during WWII. She was eventually captured and placed in the Auschwitz concentration camp. She gave birth to Hana's mother, Zahava, who became one of the first female pilots in the Israel Defense Forces. While still a young girl, in 1989, Hana and her mother and grandmother traveled on a bus overtaken by Abd-Al-Hadi. It was a suicide attack and the bus was forced off a cliff at Kiryat Yaarim. Hana survived the attack but lost both her mother and grandmother.

Following the loss of her family, Hana attended school in Tel Aviv. She had difficulty trusting others and a psychologist claimed she had abandonment issues. Hana distanced herself from others, having neither friends nor boyfriends believing people would always let her down

Hana served in the army at Beer Sheva where she requested to join the paratroopers but was denied. They thought her skills would be better used in army intelligence and that her lust for revenge was dangerous. Hana worked as a Mossad operative, analyzing and planning attacks and plotting strategies. She was promoted several times but was still unhappy with her job.

While on patrol, she was attacked and hesitated to shoot, thinking about whether she was doing it for her country or for revenge. She was taken by a mysterious man in horn-rimmed glasses who recruited her to be trained to work for the CIA. She underwent skills, endurance, and medical tests and was told she was special.

Hana eventually grew impatient with the training and tests desperate to work in the field. She attacked one of the doctors, demanding the truth and asking about a text message he'd received asking if she would manifest. He noted that he hadn't even known he'd received a text message but after checking realized she'd read it without even seeing it. Hanna discovered she sense and read electronic messages being sent all over the world. She could also send messages of her own using only the power of her mind,

The mysterious man in the Horn rimmed glasses sent her on her first mission in Tanzania, Africa. She was sent to stop a Dr. Henry Strauss, a microbiologist who was developing a genetically altered bacteria for sale to the highest bidder. Hana was captured but escaped only to be captured by the army. She told her captors she was a CIA operative but a trip to the US embassy in Dar es Salaam proved revealing for her. There was no record of her working for the CIA which had no secret bases in Alaska where she'd been trained.

Using her abilities, Hana managed to escape she disappeared, adopting a new identity and living in Montana. She continued to use her abilities hoping to find the man with the Horn-Rimmed Glasses and make him pay. Hana contacted Theodore Sprague and informed him about the radioactive isotope they were implanted with so they could be tracked. Hana suggested they team up to take out Bennet but later went her separate ways.

Hana was later contacted by Bennet with a plan to take out the satellite "the company" used for tracking the isotope. She used her abilities to take on an identity as a scientist slated to travel on a space shuttle mission from China. On her mission she took the opportunity to try and destroy the satellite but the bounty of electronic transmissions proved too overwhelming and she was killed while destroying the satellite. Though her body was destroyed, her mind remained alive on the internet.

Hana has continued to research the company and with the help of Micah, among Linderman's files discovered her family tree and a connection to a Richard Drucker, a man with abilities like hers. Hana called a man known as "Trav" to find Drucker, hidden deep within Bhutan where the Himalayas block electronic signals. Trav has the ability to understand any language spoken or otherwise including that of animals. He managed to track down Drucker and Drucker made contact with Hana and sent her a video of Peter Petrelli's explosion and rescue of his brother, Nathan.
