Ha'tak

From SCIFIPEDIA

Ha'tak vessels are Goa'uld motherships and typically make up the fleets of the System Lords. Ha'tak means "pyramid ship". Most are large oval-shaped ships, with a gold tetrahedron structure at their center that houses the bridge and all the ship's operation centers. Ha'tak's are used to transport Jaffa troops, possibly numbering in the thousands. It has a vast bay that houses goa'uld Death Gliders. It also has powerful weapons capable of bombarding a planet from space.

Technology

Ha'tak's use crystal based technology for the ship's main functions. At the pyramid's center lies the engine room and command bridge known as the Pel'tak.

Ha'tak's have bulk heads that seal off compartments and energy shields. The energy shields are mostly used for controlling access to different parts of the ship as they required power to be sustained.

Possibly the ship that used the pyramids in Egypt as landing pads. A theory Daniel Jackson came up with and was not very popular till the military group working with the Stargate discovered it.

Ship Compartments

Ha'tak Class Ships has many different compartments. Most of the scenes take place in long hallways which can prove complicated to figure out for a first time visitor.

Pel'tak

As stated in the section above a Pel'Tak is the bridge and engine room of the ship.

Bridge

The bridge has a control panel controls the ship's flight and another panel that can control weapons. It also has a large window allowing the pilot to see where the ship is going. Video communication is also viewed on the screen. Pel'taks have also been known to carry sarcophagus as in Yu's ship.

Engine Room

The power source and hyperdrive equipment of a ha'tak are stored in the engine room. They are stored in slide away compartment that you can pull out to adjust to the situation needed. This station is usually unmanned as seen in some episodes. Other times it is manned by one or two people.

Hangar Bay

The Hanger Bay houses Death Gliders. Some hanger bays have been shown to have at least 10 ships on board if not more, where as other bays have been showen to only have 5 or 6 at a time. The hanger bays are protected by a force field that allows one way passage, permitting the ships to exit but not enter, preventing a boarding party from entering. In one episode it was shown that the shield can be modified to prevent intruders from escaping.

Cargo Room

The cargo room is a storage room, commonly known to house extra weapons. It has also proven to be a good hiding place during SG-1's covert missions as there are many containers to hide behind. In a few epsoides, the cargo room has been transformed into a "stargate room". The stargate only works though if the ship is in orbit around a planet enabling it to use it as a point of origin.
