Grace Lee Whitney (b. April 1, 1930, Ann Arbor, Michigan) is an American actress well known for her role in the original Star Trek series and related films as Janice Rand (a role she has played for about 40 years). Whitney began her career as a singer on Detroit's WJR radio and began opening in clubs for more popular acts like Billie Holiday and Buddy Rich. After making her Broadway debut in Top Banana she went on to star in films, making her debut in 1947's Mystery Range.
