Gore Verbinski

Gore Verbinski (b. March 16, 1964 is an American director born in Oak Ridge Tennessee. Verbinski grew up in California where he focused on music, taking much enjoyment in the music of Metamorphosis and Black Sabbath. Drawn towards music, he joined a punk rock band as a guitarist playing with Daredevils and The Little Kings. Verbinski switched gears becoming interested in film after making a movie with friends. He attended UCLA Film School and graduated in 1987 with a BFA in film.

Career

Early work included music videos and advertising for Skittles, Cannon, United Airlines, Cocoa Cola and Budweiser. His work on Budweiser's campaign starring the famous croaking frogs, won him with a Silver Lion and four Clio awards.

Verbinski directed his first feature film Mousehunt in 1997. The comedy starred Nathan Lane and Lee Evans. His second feature, The Mexican starred Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts and he followed up with the 2002 horror hit, The Ring. Verbinski is perhaps best known for having directed the three Pirates of the Caribbean films Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
