Ghost Rider is a 2007 film based on the comic series of the same name. The film is written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson and produced by Columbia Pictures. An initial script was written in 2000 by David S. Goyer and set to be directed by Blade director Stephen Norrington. Following several filming delays, Norrington left the project. Another script was presented by Shane Salerno but the studio ultimately chose Mark Steven Johnson as writer and director. Several more production delays followed and Nicholas Cage's attachment to the project was uncertain but filming eventually commenced in 2006. The movie was filmed largely in Melbourne, Australia. Ghost Rider opens in theaters on February 16, 2007.
