George A. Romero (February 4, 1940 - ) is an American writer and director who began his career in television commercials and industrial films and who transformed the entire zombie movie genre with his influential début feature, Night of the Living Dead (1968). He followed it with three sequels, Dawn of the Dead (aka Zombies, 1979), Day of the Dead (1985) and Land of the Dead (2005). His other films include the Stephen King adaptations, Creepshow (1982), Creepshow 2 (1987) and The Dark Half (1992), plus Jack’s Wife (aka Hungry Wives/Season of the Witch, 1971), The Crazies (aka Code Name: Trixie, 1973), Martin (1978), Monkey Shines (1988), Two Evil Eyes (1989, with Dario Argento) and Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990).
