Games are genre-derived or genre-related group activities that are intended to create a somewhat realistic experience of living through an adventure in an imagined world. Games were originally played using boards and counters of some sort but have evolved to highly elaborate sets of rules. They are sometimes played with figurines that represent individual characters and their (sometimes) magical powers. A relatively recent, and very successful, development in games has been the proliferation of computer-based games set in the worlds created in popular novels, movies, television shows and even earlier board games. Among popular types of games are Role-Playing Games, MMPORGs, fantasy games, science fiction games, and vampire and horror games.
