Fruits Basket (also called Furuba in Japan) was published in 1999, and finished in 2006. It was created by Natsuki Takaya, and published by Hakusensha. The title is also a popular childrens' game in Japan, which alluded to in the series, both in a flashback, and in the fact that Tohru's "chibi" form is always an Onigri—which is what she was in the game.

Characters

Tohru Sohma Tohru Sohma is the main character in Fruits Basket. She attends high school with many other members of the Sohma clan, including Yuki and Kyo Sohma. She is very forgiving, and incredibly naive when it comes to many things. She has long brown hair and, like many girls in manga, large eyes (though hers are brown). She is regularly seen in her school uniform, even when at home.
