Fred Willard

Fred Willard (b. September 18, 1939) is a prolific American actor born in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He lost his father at age 11 and his mother remarried. He attended military school as a teen and later the Virginia Military Institute where he earned his BA in English. Interested in sports, he played baseball throughout college and his two years in the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, he studied acting in New York and began performing comedy with classmate Vic Greco. Willard became well known for his comedic talents. He is an alumnus of the Chicago-based improvisational comedy troupe The Second City. Other notable work in comedy include the comedy workshop, The Moho Group. He is also a founding member of the comedy group Ace Trucking Company.

He made his television debut in Pistols and Petticoats and his film debut in the 1967 film Teenage Mother. Early television roles include regular appearances on The Burns and Schriber Comedy Hour, Sirota's Court and Fernwood 2Nite. In the Late 70's he appeared increasingly in films including 1977's Fun With Dick and Jane and Cracking Up. In the early 80s he hosted the series Real People and was a cohost of the talk show Thicke of the Night. Other notable film roles include Salem's Lot (1979), First Family (1980), National Lampoon Goes to the Movies (1982), This is Spinal Tap (1984) , Roxanne (1987),High Strung (1991), Prehysteria! 3 (1995), Breast Men (1997), Idle Hands (1999), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), American Wedding (2003), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy(2004) Chicken Little (2005)and Epic Movie.

Willard's numerous television guest appearances include the series Faerie Tale Theater, Murphy Brown, Family Matters, Sister, Sister, Friends, Lois & Clark: The Adventures of Superman, Roseanne, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, The Simpsons, Mad About You, G vs E, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Dexter's Laboratory, a regular role on Maybe It's Me, The Batman, Stargate SG-1, and Kim Possible.
