Fred Gwynne (July 10, 1926 – July 2, 1993) was a lugubrious-looking American comedy actor, best known for his portrayal of the Frankenstein-like Herman Munster in TV’s The Munsters (1964-66) and the spin-off films Munster, Go Home! (1966) and The Munster’s Revenge (1981). He also occasionally appeared in more serious movies, including Pet Sematary (1989).
