Snapshot

An android astronaut from Earth fights alien invaders.

Summary

An alien spacecraft is headed towards Earth. On board is a princess and Doctor Nadir, her pointy-eared subordinate. A "missile" is launched from Earth, and they destroy it.

Afterwards, a new astronaut is holding a press conference. During the questions he freezes (accomplished by using a freeze frame). We find out that he is actually an android (although the reporters do not know it). The astronaut begins his flight on Mayflower 2.

"We're proven that science and the military can accomplish the impossible."

The aliens use an energy weapon on the android's rocket, which causes a massive malfulnction in the electrical system.

After the pilot ejects, the princess realizes it wasn't a weapon, but a spaceship. The Earthlings being aware of their presence would be a problem for them, so she orders her ship to land and destroy him.

A man with a rifle encounters the landed alien craft. He shoots at the space-suited alien, who uses an energy weapon.

The android astronaut also encounters one of the aliens, and fights with him. When the energy weapon is used on him, the synthetic flesh on one side of this face is destroyed.

The alien patrol encounters their fallen comrade. He is alive, and is brought back to the ship. This situation forces the princess to accelarate to "Stage 2". Doctor Nadir protests that the survey (Stage 1) has not yet been completed, but she insists. The wounded alien is given to a monster in a cage.

The princess addresses her men. Their planet has been radiated, and the remaining people there are dying. No women are left. They are looking to capture breeding stock.

The astronaut, now stumbling and a gruesome sight, encounters a couple in a car. They are frightened, and he fights with the man.

The Earth scientists who were in charge of the android discuss what might have happened to him. They speculate that his control system might have been damaged. It might wipe his memory. His instinct would be to try and reconnect with the conrol system. He might become violent if he had bad experiences. He might become...a "Frankenstein".

They get a report that the capsule has been located in Puerto Rico. There have also been reports of violence in the area, by someone wearing what might be a spacesuit.

A man and a woman in a bikini are on the beach. The spacesuited aliens encounter them, and destroy the man with the energy weapon. They chase after and capture the woman. The princess examines the woman, and is pleased.

The science team has arrived in Puerto Rico. At the beach, they find some radioactive glass: beach sand, fused by a the weapon. They mention it is like what they have found at Los Alamos.

One of the military tells them that Frank (the android) has been spotted.

"If he gives us any trouble, we'll bring you back the pieces."

The two main scientists hop on a motor scooter, and ride off to save Frank, to the sound of Latin sounding pop song with male harmony. We spend a couple of minutes watching them ride through town and out to the beach, clearly having a romantic moment. The female scientist thinks of Frank as alive: the male scientist (Adam) doesn't want the military to destroy ten years of his life's work.

They are able to pick up a signal which leads them to where Frank is sitting in a cave. Adam says the damage looks worse than it is, and begins to repair Frank. Karen goes for help.

We cut to a pool party. People are dancing. The alien patrol arrives and zap a male partygoer.

Another alien patrol encounters Karen and captures her.

The scenes shift between night and day, probably due to budget restraints.

The captured women from the party are taken to the alien spacecraft. The princess watches them loaded into a "purification" machine. Karen had a "very advanced device for this society" on her, so she is brought to Nadir and the princess. She refuses to respond to their questions, and is ordered into the cage next to the spacemonster's cage. Her wrists are bound to the wall. The monster paws at her.

A military alert (a "Code 24") is ordered for Puerto Rico. This is connected to a missing person's report (8 people...all women), three casualties, and unusual looking civilians. We are treated to stock footage of military on the move.

Adam leads Frank out of the cave. He advises Frank not to speak, and says Karen shouldn't be very far. They begin waling along the road, and encounter the scooter. Frank's burns still lok bad,and he is still stumbling.

The princess and Doctor Nadir watch a few more purifications, and then visit the unconscious Karen in her cell.

Adam and Frank find the spaceship, and Adam deduces that they are aliens and that Karen is probably captive on board. He leaves Frank to keep an eye on things (he only has one working eye left), and zooms off on the scooter to get help from General Bauer. He finds a small store, and makes a call to contact the General. He's told that the General is out on Project Mayflower. Adam insists that a message be given to General Bauers that Dr. Adam Steele has found a spaceship. The communications officer is reluctant to pass on such an unbelievable message, but he agrees to do so. A spotter plane relays the message to the general, who orders jets scrambled.

The jets are mobilized. An alien patrol captures Frank and takes him on board the ship. He is brought, unconcsious, to the holding area where Karen is still shackled. More stock footage as military helicopters fly low over a field, and tanks travel trhough the jungle.

Karen whispers to Frank, and he moves fitfully. The military fires a rocket barrage near the spaceship, but it is ineffective The princess comments that those weapons are useless against them. Doctor Nadir notes that they have nuclear weapons, and that if they use them, it will destroy the ship: they must leave at once!

Frank is awake. Karen tells him to release the other girls first, which he does. Dr. Steele rides up to general Bauer, and tells him that Karen and at least two other women are onboard the carft, so the general orders the planes to cease fire. The women run down the ladder and escape.

Frank frees Karen, and she escapes. One of the aliens releases the space monster, and he and Frank duke it out. Karen encounters Dr. Steele and the general. The spaceship is finally about to take off. Rrank fires a captured energy weapon, and the ship explodes.

The end credits run as Karen and Frank are riding their scooter again through the city.
