Frank Rosario Capra (b. May 18, 1897 – September 3, 1991 was an Academy Award-winning Italian-American director born in Biscaquino, Sicily. Capra and his family migrated to the United States in 1903. Capra was nominated for the Oscar six times and won three times for It Happened One Night, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, and You Can't Take it With You. His other nominations were for the films Lady for a Day, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and the holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life. Capra died in la Quinta, California of a heart attack in 1991.
