Frances Walsh (b. January 10, 1959, Wellington, New Zealand) is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter known for her work with husband and director Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens. She shared her three Oscars with Jackson for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, winning for Best Picture, Screenplay, and original song. She was also nominated with him for Heavenly Creatures, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring .
Walsh began her screenwriting career in the late 80s, working on the musical film Meet the Feebles and the series Worzel Gummidge Down Under. Other notable work includes Braindead, Jack Brown Genius, The Frighteners, King Kong and The Lovely Bones.
