Field of Dreams is a 1998 family fantasy based on W. P. Kinsella's Shoeless Joe. Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan star as Ray and Annie Kinsella. Ray, an Iowa farmer, hears voices in his corn field telling him "If you build it, he will come." He believes the message is encouraging him to build a baseball field on his farm. When he does, the ghosts of long gone Shoeless Joe Jackson and the other seven Chicago White Sox players appear. Their appearance does not end the instructive voice, however, and Ray must seek out a reclusive author to help him understand why.
