Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004) is a science fiction miniseries written by Rockne S. O'Bannon and David Kemper, and directed by Brian Henson.
The miniseries follows the television show Farscape after its abrupt cancellation in 2002. After being crystallized on their water planet retreat, John Crichton and Aeryn Sun are reassembled, only to learn of the brewing war between the Scarrans and Peacekeepers. As was the running theme with Farscape, the wormhole knowledge that Crichton possesses is the key to winning the war. The crew of Moya try to find the long-lost race of Eidolons, known for their mystical power of spreading peace, before the war devastates the universe.
The four-hour miniseries aired on The SCI FI Channel on October 17 and 18, 2004. A two-disc DVD version was released in the United States in January of 2005 by Lions Gate Films, and pre-ordered copies shipped with an autographed photo of a random cast member.
The creators have attributed the return of Farscape to the fans, who organized a massive advertising campaign, including letters, telephone calls, and even media buys. After the miniseries, Brian Henson and the fans aim to get Farscape onto the big screen. High ratings for the miniseries has left fans hoping that this is not the end of Farscape.
Plot Summary
After their accidental dispersement, Aeryn and John are reconstituted and discover their attackers and rescuers are a wary group of Eidolons in hiding. Among an unending list of bad news is the fact that John and Aeryn's unborn child has been swallowed up by Rygel and cannot be safely removed until it has further developed. Aeryn and John attempt to marry but their wedding is interrupted by a Peacekeeper attack.
They soon realize that the Eidolons may be the key to peace in the galaxy but they have lost their abilities unlike their counterparts on Arnessk. It's up to Moya's crew to protect the Eidolons and bring a representative to Arnessk to be trained in the ways of influencing peace, in hopes of securing a peace between the Peacekeeper and Scarran empires. But to do that, they must walk the line between opposing Peacekeeper and Scarran forces and John must gain complete knowledge of wormholes in order to convince all sides that their fight over him and his knowledge could destroy everything they're fighting for.
