Fantasy Island is an American TV series created by Gene Levitt and executive produced by Aaron Spelling. The series debuted in 1978 and ran for seven season on ABC. It was briefly revived in 1988 airing for a single season before being canceled.

The premise of the series was the speculation: What if your wild fantasy could come true...for a price?

In the original series, Ricardo Montalban portrayed the mysterious Mr. Roarke, a white-suited magic worker who gave his customers what they needed, even if it wasn't what they wanted. Hervé Villechaize played Tatoo, his assistant.

The format allowed for an anthology series feel, with different stories and different guest stars each episode.

In 1998, a revival of the series was attempted with Malcolm McDowell taking on the role of Mr. Roarke. The first episode showed a clear link to and transition from the first series. Mr. Roarke's assitants this time included a shape-shifter.
