Fandom

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Fandom is the name given to the various activities that involve fans and supporters of SF and related genres. Fandom includes amateur publications, known as fanzines; organized gatherings, known as conventions; and local clubs, which organize meetings and activities in support of their interest in genre publications, performers, and media events.

Conventions are gatherings of fans, and provide an opportunity to socialize, celebrate the wonders of the genre, share information, and buy and sell books, costumes, toys, games, and memorabilia. Conventions range in size from those whose attendees number in the dozens to those with thousands of con-goers, and can be the result of the labor of local club members or professionally run media events.

M: Megcon in Orlando Florida. Annual comic-based convention with Scifi stars.

Fanzines are amateur publications, usually printed by the creators, which focus on genre interests of all kinds from Literature and Literary Criticism to Conventions and Fandom itself.
