Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury. It was first published as a novella, The Fireman, in the February 1951 issue of Galaxy Science Fiction. In the novel, main character Guy Montag is a fireman. He does not fight fires however but is actually a professional book burner in a society where critical thought is not only discouraged but actively suppressed. The novel's title refers to the point at which a book spontaneously combusts.
The novel was first adapted for the screen in 1966. The title inspired the name of the controversial Michael Moore documentary Fahrenheit 9/11. In 2009, a second adaptation is planned, to be scripted by Frank Darabont.

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
