Evolution

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

For other uses see Evolution (disambiguation)

Evolution refers to the change in inherited genetic traits of a population over generations. Evolution is often inaccurately presented in science fiction and often assumes a linear goal-directed change over time. While natural selection is non-random and is the process of selecting traits useful for survival, evolution is mainly a series of random mutations that eventually become wide spread among a population. Much genre fiction uses evolution as the explanation for the development of superior physical abilities and super powers.
