An event horizon typically refers to the spatial boundary surrounding a black hole within which the gravitation forces are strong enough to prevent light and matter from escaping.
Other uses
The term has also been used in the fictional Stargate universe to refer to the entrance to a wormhole which has none of the gravitational effects associated with blackholes.
