Evelyn Ankers (August 17, 1918 – August 29, 1985) Chilean-born British leading lady who made her film début in 1933 and moved to Hollywood in 1940. For a decade she was Universal’s leading horror heroine in such films as The Wolf Man (1941), The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942), Captive Wild Woman (1943), The Mad Ghoul (1943), Son of Dracula (1943), and Jungle Woman (1944) before she married actor Richard Denning (1914-1998), moved to Hawaii and all but retired from the screen.
