Ernest Littlefield

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Dr. Ernest Littlefield is a fictional character on the series Stargate SG-1 portrayed by Keene Curtis. In the 1940s, Littlefield was engaged to Catherine Langford and worked with her father and the government trying to discover the secrets of the stargate. Littlefield became the first man to travel through the Stargate from Earth since it was buried several thousand years before. In the process he was cut off from Earth and trapped on the planet which became known as Heliopolis. The government believed Littlefield was dead and shut down work on the gate. Catherine was informed her fiancee was killed in a lab accident

Fifty years later, a video of the event was discovered by Dr. Daniel Jackson and viewed at Stargate Command. SG-1 invited Catherine Langford to join them on a mission to Ernest's planet to discover what happened to him. On the planet they discovered Ernest still alive, stark naked and on the verge of madness after decades of solitude. Ernest had developed a version of Catherine in his mind to keep him company.

Ernest was sane enough, however, to show Daniel his discovery. Ernest discovered the castle in which the Stargate was located was a meeting place of four great alien races who created a universal language based on chemical elements. Unfortunately all the great knowledge was lost, as SG-1's visit proved timely. They rescued Ernest shortly before the castle crumbled into the ocean.
