Eric Stoltz (b. September 30, 1961, in Whittier, California) is an American actor stage, film, and television actor. Stoltz got his start in entertainment early, playing piano of local theatrical productions. He became friends with fellow actor Anthony Edwards in his youth and the two were later roomates while attending the University of Southern California. Stoltz left college in his junior year to focus on acting. He began on stage in Scotland and moved to New York to study with Stella Adler and Peggy Feury. He made his film debut in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and gained the attention of critics in the John Hughes films Some Kind of Wonderful and Mask.
Stoltz made his Broadway debut in Our Town in 1989, which earned him a Tony nomination. He split his time between the stage and film productions. His notable films include Lionheart, Say Anything, Pulp Fiction, Little Women, The Prophecy, The House of Mirth, Jerry Maguire, Anaconda, The Butterfly Effect, and Howl. His television appearances include a recurring role on the sitcom Mad About You, Disney's Hercules, Chicago Hope, Law & Order: SVU, Once and Again, Will & Grace, Medium, and Close to Home.
