Eragon is a 2006 fantasy film based on the novel Eragon. The film is directed by Stefen Fangmeier (his directorial debut) with the screenplay by Peter Buchman. The film was produced by 20th Century Fox and opens in theaters on December 14, 2006 in Australia and New Zealand and December 15, 2006 in the UK, U.S., and Canada. Visual effects are provided by Industrial Light and Magic Furious FX and Weta Digital.

Plot

Eragon (Edward Speleers) is a young boy living in Alagaesia. He discovers a dragon egg which soon hatches and becomes his friend and companion, Saphira. He learns that the dragon is the last of the Dragon Riders. When his uncle is killed, he sets off on a journey to avenge his death and uncovers the legacy of the dragon riders.
