Enchanted is a 2007 Disney animated/live action fantasy directed by Kevin Lima and written by Bill Kelly. Susan Sarandon , Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Amy Adams bring the characters to life with their voice work to tell the story of Giselle (Adams), a peasant girl who falls in love with Prince Edward (Marsden) and is banished to a place where there is no true love, present day New York, by the evil Queen Narissa (Sarandon). In New York she must survive a harsh world and find a way to return home to her prince. In New York she meets lawyer, Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and his daughter who is fascinated with her. Robert reluctantly takes her in and comes to realize his child-hating fiancee may not be the right choice for himself or his daughter. Giselle brings story book magic to Manhattan but is chased by Queen Narissa and her minions as well as Prince Edward, who is determined to win back his bride.

The film earned mainly positive remarks from critics and took in over $34 million in its opening weekend. It went on to gross over $100 million and its success is likely to lead to a sequel, a possibility considered by Disney before the film's debut.

Awards

• Amy Adams was nominated for her Enchanted performance as Best Actress at the Critics' Choice Awards

• The film also earned three Academy Award nominations for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song for Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz for the songs "That's How You Know", "So Close", and "Happy Working Song".
