Although she is only in her early 20s, Ellen Muth (b. March 6, 1981) can already claim several years of experience on stage, in film, and on television. A unique combination of youthful looks, mature attitude, and extensive acting experience made her the perfect choice for the role of George in Dead Like Me. The dark, comedic side of the story appealed to Muth, whose roles have tended toward the dramatic.

Muth became interested in acting as a child and started acting studies at age 10. At 14, she drew widespread attention with her portrayal of the young Selena in the feature film Dolores Claiborne. Despite her youth, Muth took the same professional approach to the role that any adult actress would, researching the topic of incest and speaking to survivors.

Next, Muth appeared on stage in the off-Broadway production Nine Armenians, before taking time off from acting to finish school with her friends.

Her feature-film credits include Rain and A Gentleman's Game. Her first starring role in a feature film, as Constance in The Young Girl & the Monsoon, earned Muth the AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival Best Actress Award in 1999.

On television, Muth has appeared on two episodes of Law & Order; the television movies Two Against Time, The Truth about Jane, and Cora Unashamed; and the pilots Being Brewster and Normal, Ohio. She also appeared in the miniseries Superfire and Only Love.

On the TV series Dead Like Me, Muth stars as Georgia "George" Lass, the youngest member of an undead group of "grim reapers." At the tender age of 18, she met her demise and is now learning to adjust to her new role as a reaper. She looks at the world from the outside with sarcasm and a wry sense of humor. Being undead has given her the opportunity to gain a better understanding of life than she had the first time around.

In addition to being an actress, Muth is also a member of Mensa.
