Mary Elle Fanning (b. April 9, 1998) is an American child actress born in Conyers, Georgia. She is the younger sister of noted child actress Dakota Fanning. Elle began acting before she three years old, appearing in the drama I Am Sam as young Lucy, played by her sister, Dakota. She also played a younger Allison Clarke in Steven Spielberg's Taken, a role also played by Dakota.

She later auditioned and won roles of her own in Daddy Day Care, and guest appearances on Judging Amy and CSI: Miami. In 2004, Elle starred in the Door in the Floor with Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger. She also made appearances in CSI: NY, House M.D., Criminal Minds, Law & order: Special Victims Unit, the acclaimed film Babel, and Deja Vu with Denzel Washington. In 2006, she appeared in the miniseries The Lost Room and followed up with The Nines. Upcoming roles include Reservation Road, Gideon's Gift, Vivaldi and Hurricane Mary.
