Ella Enchanted is a 2004 romantic fantasy based on the novel of the same name by Gail Carson Levine. The film starred Anne Hathaway as Ella, a young girl cursed as a baby by a absent minded fairy who blessed her to be always obedient. As a result, Ella must obey every command given, no matter how absurd. Commanded by decent people, this would be a nuisance at best, but with two malicious stepsisters her life is miserable. After being forced by her step siblings to commit a crime, she sets off on a quest to find her fairy godmother Lucinda Perryweather (Vivica A. Fox) with the help of a talking book as her guide. On her way, she comes across the prince of the kingdom, Prince Char, and while he rescues her from harm, she gives him food for thought about the running of the kingdom, which his uncle, unknown to him, is plotting to take over. Ella is determined to hide her curse from him but when the two fall in love and their fates intertwine, their romance is made complicated and Ella must find a way to overcome the curse on her own to save Char and the kingdom.
