Egeria

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

the series Stargate SG-1, Egeria is a Goa'uld queen.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

2000 years before the beginning of the series, she came to a striking realization that the ways of the Goa'uld were evil. She passed on this change of philosophy to the symbiotes she spawned, in essence giving birth to the Tok'ra movement, a group of Goa'uld who opposed the System Lords and the evil oppressive ways of other Goa'uld. For her defiance, Egeria was imprisoned in stasis on Ra's former territory, Pangar.

The Pangaran's discovered Egeria in Earth's 1950s and discovered her potential. They held Egeria captive, forcing her to breed symbiotes for their experiments which led to the creation of the drug Tretonin. Thousands of symbiotes were destroyed in the creation of the drug which guaranteed perfect health and an extended lifespan but left its users dependent for life as it completely replaced their immune system.

The flaw was one bred into the symbiotes by Egeria who also gave them none of her genetic memory, essentially making them blank slates. She hoped the Pangarans would stop using the symbiotes but they continued despite the problems. Egeria was freed from her imprisonment when SG-1 recognized her identity thanks to heiroglypics on ancient ruins. They called in the Tok'ra to see their queen. Tok'ra scientist Kelmaa gave up her host to Egeria, allowing her a short time to communicate. Egeria confessed her part in the Pangaran's problems and gave them the knowledge to repair the damage.

Following her death a short time later, Egeria was taken by the Tok'ra for burial.
