On the series Stargate SG-1, Edora is a Milky Way planet inhabited by a pre-industrial peaceful human society. The planet's surface has traces of naquadah brought there by periodic meteor storms. Though the area surrounding the gate appears fertile, the inhabitants have noted a decreased amount of fish in the lakes and other resources. As a result, they prefer not to trade with strangers in order to conserve their resources.

It is likely that their limited resources are due to the periodic meteor showers. Edora's orbit intersects with an asteroid belt which causes meteors to fall from the sky. Most burn up in the atmosphere or land with minimal impact. However, every one hundred and fifty years, severe impacts occur rendering exposed areas uninhabitable for several days.
