A post-apocalyptic Earth is the setting of the TV series Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, a dark and foreboding look at the cost of war between humanity and machines.

In the show's mostly cryptic timeline of events, humanity was assaulted by Lord Dread's machines, ultimately losing both the war and freedom. While rebel cells still operate in an effort to regain a foothold against Dread's forces, Earth has been decimated and shows no signs of an early recovery.
