Dragon

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

(Redirected from Dragons)

A dragon is a mythical beast that exists in the folklore of many cultures. Sometimes they are referred to by their Celtic name, wyrm.

In Western fiction, dragons, as archetypes, typify humankind's struggle against seemingly impossible odds. Therefore they are ideal foes in traditional J.R.R. Tolkien-style sword and sorcery fantasy as well as horror stories.

The creatures also have appeared in works of science fiction as true biological creatures as in the Pern stories.

Dragons were taken seriously as a problem in Western Europe. Local legends of slain dragons in specific locations were famous. Some fossils were misidentified as dragon bones.
