Dolph Lundgren (b. November 3, 1959) is an actor born in Stockholm, Sweden. He attended the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and earned his M.A. in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney in 1982. He earned a Fulbright scholarship to M.I.T. but left science behind to pursue acting. Other accomplishments include fluency in Swedish, English and German as well as some knowledge of Japanese and French and a 3rd degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate. He has participated in and won several tournaments including the European full-contact karate championships and served as the team leader of the U.S. Olympic Pentathlon Team during the 1996 Atlanta games.
Career
Standing at a notable 6'6, and already a recognized face in the kick-boxing world, Lundgren caught the eye of movie producers after the release of his exercise video Maximum Potential. He made his film debut in the James Bond feature A View to Kill. He followed up with his breakout role as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, Masters of the Universe, Red Scorpion and the starring role in The Punisher. Other film appearances include Dark Angel, Universal Soldier, and Johnny Mnemonic (movie).
Lundgren's career waned in the 90s and he appeared in less notable action films such as Silent Trigger, The Peacekeeper and Blackjack. Genre roles include The Minon, Bridge of Dragons, and Retrograde.
Personal Life
Lundgren married Anette Qviberg in 1994. They live mainly in London with their two daughters Ida Sigrid and Greta Eveline.
