He can fly with his "Cloak of Levitation", find the truth with the "All-Seeing Eye of Agamotto", travel through time and other dimensions, and much more.

Doctor Strange is noted for founding the superhero non-team, The Defenders. He is currently associated with the The New Avengers, These are the Avengers that have gone underground because they refuse to submit to Superhuman Registration Act, requiring all superheroes to register and become licensed by the federal governmant. The New Avengers have made Doctor Strange's Greenwich Village home their secret headquarters. He helps keep them hidden with magic illusion spells, which make his home appear deserted, even when standing directly inside it.

Character Origin

Dr.Stephen Strange was a wealthy, world renowned surgeon who enjoyed all the superficial pleasures that the material world can give. When a car accident that affects the muscles in his hands mean that he can never operate again, Strange's life goes into a tailspin. Eventually, seeking out a secluded monastary in the mountains of Tibet, he seeks the power of "The Ancient One" in hope that the venerable sorceror can somehow heal his hands.

Contact with this ancient master transforms Strange's sensibilities, and he instead becomes the Ancient One's apprentice, displacing Baron Mordo, who turns out to be pretending to be an enlightened magician, but is actually in it for the power. Under the Ancient One's tutelage, Strange becomes an accomplished sorceror, eventually defeating Mordo when he tries to usurp the Ancient One's position by force.

Strange eventually sets up shop in New York's Greenwich Village with his servant Wong and an array of mystical books and talismans. Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum is located on 177A Bleecker Street. There he guards our dimensional plane from all the evil magical forces that would destroy it.

Eventually, the Ancient One died and became "one with the universe" and Doctor Strange becomes the official "Sorceror Supreme" of our universe.
