Did you ever think there must be some other reason you were here? Some greater purpose that made you different from everyone around you?

In the Discovered Destiny theme, a character who thought they were ordinary (although, sometimes, a bit odd) finds out that they are, indeed, different. Maybe an alien princess, or a witch, or savior of the planet (not necessarily the one on which they've been living).

With this knowledge may come powers. However, it may also bring threats. The good news: your kingdom awaits and you have super-powers. The bad news: deadly assassins have been searching for you for years, and as soon as you show yourself, they'll try and kill you.

The struggle can make for a compelling story. The stakes are high and the rewards are great. From Luke Skywalker to Matthew Star to Revolutionary Girl Utena, sci fi fans have watched the metamorphoses from ordinary to chosen one.
