Directors are the people who are regarded by many as the central, visionary creators of Movies and other media projects.

In Movies particularly, they are the people who choose and sometimes write scripts, who select actors to play the characters, who make final decisions on locations, sets, sound, lighting, and performances during production. They also work closely with film editors in post-production to cut together a final version that reflects their personal vision of what should be on the screen for viewers.
