Destination Truth

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Destination Truth is a paranormal reality series on The SCI FI Channel. Each episode heads to various locations on the globe to explore the possible existence of paranormal creatures. Josh Gates hosts the series created and executive-produced by Neil Mandt (Beg, Borrow and Deal). The show's maxim is that any creature they pursue must be one that has been seen by eyewitnesses.

"I'm Josh Gates. My travels have taken me to the most exotic and mysterious places on Earth. I've seen some unexplainable things which have raised some strange questions. Now, I've pulled together a crack team armed with the latest technology to search for answers. I'm not sure what's out there waiting for me, but I know what I'm looking for: the truth."
—Opening to Destination Truth

The episodes are unscripted, and investigate creatures such as mermaids, ropen (similar to pterodactyls), and the iguanodon of Papua New Guinea. In South Africa, they pursue a river monster and a small creature reminiscent of gremlins.

In other adventures, the team captures night-vision camera footage that they cannot explain, visits a haunted village in Thailand, and goes after the chupacabra, werewolves, and a lake monster similar to the Loch Ness monster.

Destination Truth debuted June 6, 2007, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
