Dennis Price (Dennistoun Franklyn John Rose-Price) (June 23, 1915 – October 6, 1973) Urbane British leading man, often in light comedies. He played the inventive serial killer in Ealing’s Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) and replaced Boris Karloff in The Haunted House of Horror (aka Horror House, 1969). His numerous other credits include What a Carve Up! (aka No Place Like Homicide, 1961), Curse of the Voodoo (1964), The Earth Dies Screaming (1964), The Horror of It All (1964), Hammer’s Horror of Frankenstein (1970) and Twins of Evil (1972), Tower of Evil (aka Horror on Snape Island/Beyond the Fog, 1971), Theatre of Blood (1972), Horror Hospital (1973) and Son of Dracula (1974). Unfortunately, Price’s career hit the skids in the early 1970s when he began appearing in increasingly sleazy films, often for director Jesús Franco, including Venus in Furs (1970), Vampiros Lesbos (1970), Dracula Prisoner of Frankenstein (1972) and The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein (1972).
