Delta Quadrant)
In the Star Trek universe, the Milky Way is divided into four quadrants, Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta. Of these, the Gamma quadrant and the Delta Quadrant are the least explored by members of the United Federation of Planets. The Delta Quadrant's closest point to Earth is approximately 30,000 light years away. The first known humans to visit the quadrant were those taken from Earth hundreds of years ago by a species known as the Briori. The first humans known to willingly visit the quadrant were the Hansen family on board the USS Raven, who left with the intention of studying the Borg. Until the USS Voyager was pulled into the quadrant by a powerful being known as The Caretaker, the Federation knew little about the quadrant or its inhabitants. Several years after being pulled in, Voyager reestablished connection with the alpha quadrant giving the Federation years of knowledge from their experiences.

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
