Dead of Night is a 1945 psychological horror thriller. The film is a series of dream segments written by various screenwriters and directed by several directors. All segments center on character Walter Craig, portrayed by Mervyn Jones. Craig, an architect seeking work, visits Pilgrim's Farm, the home of a prospective client and finds that the house is familiar as are its inhabitants. Though they do not recognize him, Craig informs them of his theory that they are all part of a recurring dream. His dream typically starts pleasantly before degrading into a horrific nightmare. When he awakens, he quickly forgets the details until he begins dreaming once again.
