David R. Ellis

David R. Ellis (b. September 8, 1952, Santa Monica, California) is an American filmmaker. Ellis got his start in the film industry appearing in minor roles in TV series and films such as The Strongest Man in the World, Wonder Woman, Nightbeast and Blind Fury. He transitioned to stunt work, providing stunts for the films Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Deathsport and Carny. He coordinated stunts for Taps, Megaforce, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Beastmaster, Airplane II: The Sequel, V, The Wraith, Lethal Weapon, Warlock, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge, Ghost Dad, Misery, Forever Young, The Addams Family and Warlock: The Armageddon.

Ellis began exploring directing in the late 80s, serving as an assistant director on several films including the popular films, Life Stinks, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Waterworld, Sphere, Deep Blue Sea , The Perfect Storm, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, The Matrix Reloaded and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World .


Ellis made his solo feature directorial debut with the family film, Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco. He has since directed a series of horror and thriller films including Final Destination 2, Cellular, Snakes on a Plane, and Asylum. In 2009, his second Final Destination film, Final Destination 4 will debut. He will also direct actor Brandon Routh in the film Dead of Night.
