David Jordan is a minor character on the series Stargate SG-1 portrayed by David Abbott. Dr. Jordan was an archaeologist and mentor to Dr. Daniel Jackson and Jackson's peers Steven Rayner and Sarah Gardner. Though he considered Daniel his best student, the two lost touch when Daniel was publicly embarrassed and maligned by the academic community for his belief that Egyptian pyramids were landing sites for alien spaceships. Of course Daniel was proven right, but Jordan never learned of it as he was killed in a lab explosion which the tabloids attributed to the curse of Osiris.
The truth behind Jordan's death was uncovered by Daniel who investigated after learning of his professor's death. Daniel discovered that Jordan had opened the canopic jar belonging to Osiris which he believed to contain the mummified heart of the ancient deity. Instead, he released the goa'uld symbiote, who once held the identity of the Egyptian god. The symbiote entered the body of Sarah Gardner and the murdered Jordan and destroyed the evidence.
