David Greenwalt (b. October 16, 1949 in Los Angeles, California) is an American television producer, screenwriter and director who has worked on several popular genre series including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel on which he served as lead writer until the series' third season when he left to join the new short-lived series Miracles. He continued to serve as a consulting producer and later returned to direct an episode. Greenwalt attended the University of Redlands in California where he studied drama, English and education.
He also contributed to the Buffy novels.
