Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky (b. February 12, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American director, screenwriter and producer. Aronofsky fell in love with film as a child and following high school, attended Harvard University where he studied live action and animated film. His senior thesis film, Supermarket Sweep became a National Student Academy Award finalist. He made his first feature film, Pi in 1993. Pi was nominated for several film festival awards and won the Independent Spirit award for Best First Screenplay. His second film, Requiem for a Dream about drug addiction, earned actress, Ellen Burstyn an Academy Award nomination and won an Independent Spirit Award for its cinematography. In 2002, he worked with Lucas Sussman and David Twohy on the script for the horror thriller Below and in 2006, he wrote and directed The Fountain which starred Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. His upcoming films include Fighter and Black Swan.
