Darkman is a 1990 horror film written and directed by Sam Raimi. Liam Neeson stars as horribly scarred and crazed scientist Peyton Westlake aka Darkman.

Westlake developed a synthetic skin with potentially positive implications for skin graft technology. However, the skin degrades after exposure to 100 minutes of light. He finds a new use for his technology when a criminal causes an explosion in his lab that results in horrible scars and an inability to sense pain. He also experiences violent outbursts and has increased strength. He is believed dead but returns to take his revenge by using his technology to create masks of the men who attacked him as part of his revenge plot.
